We’re proud to announce that Lucas Allen, founder and president of One Degree Cooler, and Hailey Hamelin-Wilson, Miss Earth Canada 2025, have been appointed by the Government of Canada (Environment and Climate Change Canada) as Official Canadian Youth Delegates to UN COP30, taking place from November 10–21, 2025, in Belém, Brazil.

COP30, hosted in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, is the 30th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. It’s the main multilateral forum for climate negotiations among 190+ UN member countries and non-state actors such as non-governmental organizations, scientists, companies and civil society.

Lucas and Hailey will be representing the voices, ideas, and ambitions of Canadian youth, playing an important role in ensuring that the next generation’s perspectives are reflected in Canada’s negotiations and commitments. To connect young Canadians to this global moment, One Degree Cooler has launched the Canadian Youth for COP30 campaign, enabling young people to share their climate messages, hopes, and ideas for the future. Participants will have the chance to:

  • Add their voices to a national compilation presented by youth delegates at COP30,
  • Be featured on One Degree Cooler’s “Voices from Canada” digital wall, and
  • Receive an official Certificate of Participation recognizing their contribution to youth climate action.

The Fourth Letter from the Presidency shared ambitious goals for COP30 including:

  • Tripling the capacity of renewable energy worldwide
  • Mobilizing investments to halt and reverse deforestation and forest degradation
  • Enhancing the resilience of cities, infrastructure and water systems to climate impacts
  • Empowering youth, civil society, local governments and communities in climate governance
  • Scaling up technology development transfer and innovation for climate solutions

In general, COP30 aims to move beyond setting targets and toward implementation: moving from promises to action. With that spirit in mind, Lucas and Hailey will be bringing a solutions-oriented mindset, building bridges between bridge between young Canadians and the global climate conversation.
